This article is about the character. For the guest star, see Neil deGrasse Tyson. Neil deGrasse Tyson is an American astrophysicist, cosmologist, author and science communicator. He was one of the educators and teachers that Homer Simpson met at Bourbon Verlander's private estate.

After Homer gets much better at teaching as professor in Burns UniversityMr. Burns decides to sell him to Bourbon Verlander and let him work for him at his private estate. When Homer arrives, he meets one of the educators that Verlander hired for him, Neil deGrasse Tyson, an astrophysicist. He tells Homer the fact that the solar system is over four and a half billion years old. Homer also meets Robert McKee, Suze Orman and Ken Jennings, the other educators that Verlander hired. He is later seen teaching Lisa Simpson astrophysics and showed her the rings of Saturn through a telescope.[1]

When Benjamin asked Doug and Gary who is the most average person they know, Gary said that it's Neil deGrasse Tyson, while Doug said that it's Michio Kaku. Benjamin then told that perhaps they should set their sights a little bit lower.[2]
