The New Grand Canyon was supposed to be the crater of Springfield when it was blown up by the government, but this was stopped by Homer and Bart Simpson.
History[]
After the Simpson family escaped from the dome and moved to Alaska, Russ Cargill tricked President of the United States Arnold Schwarzenegger into agreeing to blow up Springfield, planning to convert the crater into a new Grand Canyon. After losing his family, Homer was willing to risk his life to foil the Environmental Protection Agency's plans. Joined by Bart, who briefly went to stay with the Flanders family, they rode to the top of the dome, and it destroyed with the bomb meant to blow up Springfield.
