Newshound was the mascot of the Channel 6 Newscasting team. He apparently won seven Emmy awards and received 15 nominations for the same award.

At some point in his career, he developed a lazy eye. The News crew apparently planned to give him laser eye surgery, but they were forced to forsake it after the station received a $10,000,000 fine due to Kent Brockman swearing during an interview with Homer Simpson on Smartline, and apparently wasn't able to eat because he couldn't see well.

He was also present when Kent Brockman was fired when seeing him out, with him blanketing his eyes with his ear.
