Cultural References[]

  • The title is a reference to (and parody of) Gilbert O’Sullivan’s song Alone Again (Naturally), as was the title of the previous episode, "Alone Again, Natura-Diddily". Interestingly, both episodes are centered around Ned Flanders he even mentions the death of his wife Maude.
  • The image of the Ned as "The Worst Person in the World" depicts him as a red devil with an Adolf Hitler mustache and a t-shirt reading "Detroit Lions Fan". At the time of this episode's premiere, the Lions had recently ended their infamous 2008 season, in which they didn't win any of the 16 games they played.

Trivia[]

  • Bart's hair is its natural red color without the sun. However, this contradicts "I Married Marge" where Bart was born with yellow hair.
  • In the scene after a car leaves the Simpsons' house, you can see that Otto and Agnes Skinner go out of a closed place meaning they are making love inside it.
  • This is the last episode to feature Ned as a landlord only for Homer to humiliate him was "Home Away from Homer".
  • Homer said they started Mardi Gras was two days before Bart was born which would make his birthday February 11. However, Bart's birthday has been stated as either February 23 (which is non-canon) or April 1.
  • This is the fourth episode in which Homer attempts suicide. The first was "Homer's Odyssey", the second was "Hello Gutter, Hello Fadder", and the third was "Eternal Moonshine of the Simpson Mind".
