Normal couch gag |
|
The Normal couch gag is the fifth couch gag of Season 1.
Plot[]
The Simpsons family runs to the couch and sits down; nothing else happens. Bart and Marge blink a few times during the sequence.
Behind the Laughter[]
- This was originally meant to be the first couch gag since it played in the intro to the first episode produced, Some Enchanted Evening. Due to production issues involving said episode (as in, animation and background problems that needed to be fixed up), the first couch gag was instead the Squashed Bart couch gag, which played during the intro to the second released and produced episode, Bart the Genius. The first released episode, Simpsons Roasting on an Open Fire, didn't have the usual intro or a couch gag.
- The episode "Midnight Rx"'s couch gag called back to this episode, with the family doing what they did here, and Lisa saying, "What? Can't we sit on the couch without something happening?", followed by Homer being impaled by a spear.
- A "normal" couch gag appeared during the credits of the "Marge the Meanie", where the family runs to the couch and sits as normal. This is until the intro begins playing in reverse and they all leave.
- The family also sits on the couch normally in the Live-action couch gag; however, the gag is that it happens in live action (like the rest of the intro).
