Opening sequence co-worker is a man who used to work at the Springfield Nuclear Power Plant. He is one of the characters that only appear in the Season 1 opening sequence.
History[]
While Homer is seen working at the power plant, the co-worker is seen holding a ham and cheese sandwich with a pair of tongs while staring at it. When the quitting whistle blows and Homer leaves the plant to go home, the co-worker takes a bite of his sandwich.
However, because the co-worker is only seen in the opening sequence for Season 1, he was never seen again and was replaced by Mr. Burns and Smithers from Season 2 to early Season 20, and by Lenny and Carl since Season 20's "Take My Life, Please".
