Cultural References[]
- The title is a reference to the 2007 supernatural horror film Paranormal Activity.
- Preparation XX is a parody of Preparation H.
- Marge reads from Luann Van Houten's "I'll have what she's having: Celebrity Face Menu" which is a reference to the famous punchline in the fake orgasm scene at Katz's Delicatessen in the romcom When Harry Met Sally... and its star Meg Ryan's rumored plastic surgery.
- A poster behind Dr. Hibbert as he examines Homer reads "Erectile rights are human rights" which is play-on-words on the feminist slogan popularized by then First Lady Hillary Clinton "Women's rights are human rights."
- Perimenopause: The Peri-Musical! is a reference to Seussical with a similar portmanteau title except for Seuss and musical.
- Foot Swamp is a parody of Foot Locker (Sherri or Terri wearing the same referee shirt worn by Foot Locker employees) and Skoochers are a parody of Skechers.
Continuity[]
- Lisa has braces. ("Last Exit to Springfield")
- 8th-grade Lisa attends Springfield Middle School. ("Marge the Meanie")

- Coach Krupt shouts "Bombardment!" ("My Fair Laddy")
- At Pam and Ned Flanders's wedding reception, Sideshow Mel is sitting next to Barb ("A Serious Flanders") and Carl sits next to Naima. ("Carl Carlson Rides Again")

Goofs[]
- In the initial release of the episode on television, response from Matt Selman, Megan Mullally was unavailable to record the line, so Bernice's voice was given instead. As a result, there was an animation error in the scene with Sarah Wiggum spoke with Bernice Hibbert's voice. It was later fixed for its Hulu and Disney+.
