The Philippines (Filipino: Pilipinas, Spanish: Filipinas), officially the Republic of the Philippines (Filipino: Republika ng Pilipinas, Spanish: República de las Filipinas), is a country of Southeast Asia. The current president is Ferdinand Marcos.

History[]

When Lisa unwraps Bart's globe, Philippines is one of the countries seen upon the globe.[1]

In the episode Thank God It's Doomsday, Homer adds the "number of Filipinos in the Bible" (zero) to his doomsday equation.[2]

Krusty the Clown also decided to repackage the Krusty-Brand Home Pregnancy Test as coffee stirrers and sell them in the Philippines after the test was found to give "20% false 'Hey-Hey's."[3]

One of Homer's videos is "Philippine prisonered," which is a reference to the Dancing Inmates of the Cebu Provincial Detention and Rehabilitation Center in the Philippines. The Dancing Inmates became YouTube sensations thanks to their interpretations of several Michael Jackson songs, including "Thriller" and "They Don't Care About Us."[4]
