The Springfield Police Car is the main vehicle used by the Springfield Police Department.
Design[]
The vehicle is primarily based off the 1979-1987 Ford LTD Crown Victoria. But there have been others that appear based on the 70’s Chevy Impala, 1978-1983 Chevy Malibu, and the 1988-1991 Ford Crown Victoria. SPD patrol cars come in several different varieties. Cruisers generally have a Black and white color scheme, but have also been seen in plain white and more rarely blue and white. All marked cruisers have a gold colored SPD decal on the door. Some cruisers have either two rotating incandescent beacons on the roof, either red and blue or red and red but, most have a Red and Blue Federal Signal Lightbar. Chief Wiggum's patrol car has a stereo cassette, as seen in "Marge on the Lam"; Wiggum uses this to play a tape of "Sunshine, Lollipops, and Rainbows" during a chase. SPD cruisers can be seen with either a steel mesh cage or plexi glass cage separating the front and back seat.
