The Springfield Police Car is the main vehicle used by the Springfield Police Department.
Design[]
The vehicle is primarily based off the 1979-1987 Ford LTD Crown Victoria, there have also been cruisers that appear based on 70’s Chevy Impalas, 1978-1983 Chevy Malibu, and the 1988-1991 Ford Crown Victoria. SPD patrol cars come in several different varieties. Cruisers generally have a Black and white color scheme, but have also been seen in plain white and more rarely blue and white. All marked cruisers have a gold colored SPD decal on the door. Some cruisers have either two rotating incandescent beacons on the roof being either red and blue or red and red but, some cars even have a full size red and blue light bar. Chief Wiggum's patrol car has a cassette player as seen in "Marge on the Lam"; Wiggum uses this to play a tape of "Sunshine, Lollipops, and Rainbows" during a chase. SPD cruisers can be seen with either a steel mesh cage or plexi glass cage separating the front and back seat.
