Powers of Ten couch gag is a Couch gag that was used in the Season 15 episode The Ziff Who Came to Dinner. It is the 12th couch gag of the season.

Plot

In a parody of the 1977 science short film, Powers of Ten, the Simpson family sit down on the couch as normal when suddenly, to 'Also Sprach Zarathustra', a long overhead shot of the house, an overhead shot of the neighborhood, an overhead shot of the United States, an overhead shot of the North American continent and the Western Hemisphere, an overhead shot of the Earth, the solar system, and Kang and Kodos standing next to a broken spaceship are shown. Soon, many stars fill the screen as they condense into the Milky Way. Other galaxies appear and turn into atoms, which turn into simple molecular structures, which turn into more complex molecular structures, which turn into DNA helices, which pan out into a blank yellow expanse, which reveals to be Homer’s bald head and returns to the couch scene. Homer stares blankly for a moment, then utters (depending on the version shown), "Wooooow!" (on "The Ziff Who Came to Dinner"), "Coooool!" (on "On a Clear Day, I Can't See My Sister", or "Weird!" (on "Eternal Moonshine of the Simpson Mind").

Trivia/Goofs

• In all this couch gag's appearances, Snowball II or V is shown running on the roof, who mysteriously vanishes as it continues to span out.
• For a while, this was considered the longest couch gag after the Circus Extravaganza one from season four was retired, but before longer couch gags were introduced in the later episodes, including the Homer Evolution gag from "Homerazzi", the "Iconic Sitcom Couch Gag" where The Simpsons find themselves on the sets of The Honeymooners, The Dick van Dyke Show, The Brady Bunch, and Cheers before returning to their own sitcom, and the infamous "Rick and Morty" crossover couch gag, which (as of this writing) is the longest couch gag.
