R.E.M. are a rock band.
History[]
Homer got R.E.M. to play a concert in his bar, which he opened in his garage after Moe alienated his regulars. The band were seen performing their 1987 single It's The End of the World as We Know It (And I Feel Fine)", to which Homer enthusiastically sang the wrong words (which included an insult to Ned Flanders). Homer had tricked R.E.M. into thinking the concert was a benefit, and that they were actually saving the rainforest.
Moe crashed the gig, leading Homer to reveal the bar was a hunting club. Realizing Homer had lied, lead singer Michael Stipe became very angry, smashing a beer bottle, intending to assault Homer. The band restrained Stipe, recycled the shards and left.
Lisa invited R.E.M. to Thanksgiving Dinner at Moe's Tavern. Homer apologizes and the band supply a turkey made of tofu.
The song "Superman" was featured in the episode "Million-Dollar Abie".
Trivia[]
- Bill Berry had left the band in 1997, and since then they never had an official replacement drummer; the one that appears in "Homer the Moe" (aired in 2001) is a lookalike.
