Richie Valens (b. Richard Steven Valenzuela) is a deceased man buried at the Springfield Cemetery. He was a famous rock 'n' roll musician in the 1950s, best known for hit songs La Bamba, Donna and Come On Let's Go. He died in a plane crash on February 3, 1959 with fellow musicians The Big Bopper and Buddy Holly.

After finding Edgar Neubauer's grave, Bart and Lisa learned that Mayor Sideshow Bob had stuffed his ballot with "votes" cast from deceased people and animals buried at the Springfield Cemetery and Springfield Pet Cemetery, respectively, among them Richie Valens.
The tombstone, however, has Valens' birth year incorrect. While he was 17 when he died, he was actually born on May 13, 1941.
