"Treehouse of Horror V": The Simpsons missing out on their own country club welcome party is similar to Homer running screaming out of the reality where his family is wealthy, the kids are well-behaved, Patty and Selma are dead, but no one knows what a doughnut is, only to miss out on doughnuts falling from the sky (which Marge thinks is rain).
"Lisa vs. Malibu Stacy": Kent Brockman has a bratty daughter who looks like him (and is voiced by Nancy Cartwright).
Marge's line "I wouldn't want to join any club that would have me as a member" is a quote by Groucho Marx which was famously repeated by Woody Allen in the movie Annie Hall.
Trivia[]
According to the DVD commentary, it's mentioned Marge was allowed to say that she had a Chanel dress (both the discounted suit and the second one she bought when the first one was ruined), but they couldn't show the actual name (which is why Marge's fingers covered the label and a tree covered the Chanel storefront).
This was officially the first episode to use new renders of the credits font, which were tested in a few prior episodes.
This is the first episode where both the episode writer and director are women.
Goofs[]
The horse with red eyes
When Marge smiles after Evelyn leaves the Kwik-E-Mart gas station, her lipstick disappears. It reappears when Mr. Burns pulls up.
When Lisa is first shown riding the horse, the horse's eye is colored solid red.
