Season 17 of The Simpsons first started on September 11, 2005 with "Bonfire of the Manatees", and ended on May 21, 2006 with "Marge and Homer Turn a Couple Play". A DVD version was released eight years after the season finale on December 1, 2014. It has Sideshow Bob on the DVD cover.

DVD release[]
The Season 17 DVD set was released for Region 1 on December 2, 2014, and for Region 2 on December 1, 2014. It is the only season to date to be rated 15 in the UK.
The US DVD edition is available in the "molded head" variation of the box to match previous seasons.
The cover features Sideshow Bob.
Trivia[]
- It is the last season documented by the Frinkiac website
- This is the first season since the 11th to have a Treehouse of Horror special be the fourth episode instead of the season premiere, like how it was for seasons 12 through 16, as well as season 8.
- This season was somewhat bookended with the first and final episodes using the full intro, even though the 22nd one used a full intro in a season 3 kind of way.
- This season has the 365th ("Simpsons Christmas Stories") and 366th ("Homer's Paternity Coot") episodes, meaning that a viewer can watch a Simpsons episode a day for a full year (or a leap year) -- provided they don't skip over the now-banned season three premiere "Stark Raving Dad" or include any of the Tracy Ullman Show shorts -- without repeating.
