Original icon
Season 21 is the twenty-first season of The Simpsons. Because of this season, The Simpsons pulled ahead of "Gunsmoke" as the longest running American primetime television series. It aired on September 27, 2009 and ended on May 23, 2010.
This is the first season of The Simpsons since Season 10 to have more than 22 episodes (mostly due to production delays caused by the 2007-08 Writers Guild of America strike and contract disputes from the main voice actors).
