Season 29 |
|
Season 29 was hinted by Al Jean via Twitter with the announcement of Treehouse of Horror XXVIII[2]. It will air from October 1, 2017 to May 20, 2018. The pop singer Ed Sheeran had done voice recording for an episode of this season.[3] Bob's Burgers and The Simpsons will team up for a couch gag that was originally for this season[4], but for reasons unknown, it was moved to be in the Season 30 premiere instead[5]. Also, Bill Plympton will likewise animate a sixth couch gag (having previously done so in Season 23's "Beware My Cheating Bart", Season 24's "Black-Eyed, Please", Season 25's "Married to the Blob", Season 27's "Lisa the Veterinarian", and Season 28's "22 For 30").[6] In addition, Kelsey Grammer will reprise his role as Sideshow Bob for a singing cameo in December,[7][8] while guest stars include Norman Lear (who will make a cameo in November),[9] Rachel Bloom (who will also write a song for this season),[10][11] Shaquille O'Neal (whom Homer will seek help from)[12] Andy Daly,[13] Daniel Radcliffe,[14] Martin Short[15], Ethan Nicolle, and Ken Marino. It is also announced that the Simpson family will travel to New Orleans for Jazz Fest in Lisa Gets the Blues, and that there will be an episode that will be a re-imagining of Stephen King's It, but with Krusty the Clown.[16] Geek Elite Radio rumored on Twitter that a future episode could show a timeline where Lisa is married to a woman.[17] For "Treehouse of Horror XXVIII", William Friedkin, the director of the 1973 film "The Exorcist", will be a guest star in said episode and will voice Dr. Kenneth Humphries. Ben Daniels will also guest star and will voice a priest in "The Exor-sis".[18] Megan Amram will be a new writer for this season.[19] For "Springfield Splendor", Martin Short, Rachel Bloom, Roz Chast, Alison Bechdel, and Marjane Satrapi will guest star in the episode.[20]
Announcement
On November 4, 2016, it was announced that The Simpsons had been renewed for Seasons 29 and 30[21].
