Season 31 is the 31st season of The Simpsons that premiered on September 29, 2019, with The Winter of Our Monetized Content and ended on May 17, 2020 with The Way of the Dog.
With 20th Television's dissolvement, starting with Season 32 they will no longer distribute the series as it’s already absorbed into Disney-ABC Domestic Television, which later became the new distributor of the show.[1]
This is also the last season to have white actors voice non-white characters as it was later announced that those characters would not be voiced by those actors anymore in June 2020 as a result of George Floyd protests, with Hank Azaria stepping away from the Apu character in January, primarily because of the stereotypes and bias it perpetuated. Other characters (like Kumiko) also got new voice actors.
Other animated shows also got voice roles stepping down from non-white characters because of protests, these shows that got voice roles recasted were Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug and Cat Noir, Big Mouth, Central Park, Bob's Burgers, Family Guy and PAW Patrol.

On February 6, 2019, it was announced that The Simpsons had been renewed for Season 31 and Season 32.[2] Al Jean confirmed on his Twitter that there would be the 30th Treehouse of Horror episode of The Simpsons, which would be the 666th episode of the show.[3] This was their first full season after The Walt Disney Company's acquisition of 21st Century Fox since April 20, 2019.
Starting with the digital release of this season would be distributed by Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment. Season 31 came to Disney+ on October 2, 2020.
