|
Premiere
- The premiere of this episode was watched by 9.3 million people in America.
Cultural References
- The episode title is a pun on the 1989 film Sex, lies and videotape.
- In the couch gag, the family is frozen in carbonite and taken away by Boba Fett, a reference to The Empire Strikes Back. Boba Fett is also a reference to the Bounty Hunter plot of the episode.
- Wolf is a parody of Dog the Bounty Hunter.
- The Thing from the Fantastic Four appears fighting the Incredible Hulk.
- AD/BC is a parody of AC/DC, and the song "Kindly Deeds Done For Free" parodies "Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap."
- To stop the riot between North Ireland and South Ireland, Lisa sings "Too Ra Loo Ra Loo Ra."
- A fight scene during the episode parodies fight scenes from the Batman TV series.
- The ending fight and chase scene parodies a scene from Casino Royale.
- One of the other bounty hunters is Cherry Darling, a main character from the 2007 movie Planet Terror, although here she is blonde instead of brunette as in the movie.
- When Mayor Quimby said the this years St. Patrick Day is booze free, he must be making a reference to "Homer vs. the Eighteenth Amendment" in which the last St. Patrick Day caused a riot of drunkenness.
Censorship
In the United Kingdom airing of this episode on Channel 4, some scenes were cut out, some (mainly the first two, the scene in the Alleyway) were done rather poorly.
- The scene where Homer confronts Snake in the alleyway is shortened so that Snake shooting Homer but the bullet bouncing back is cut, Homer seeing it was Flanders and Ned saying he's replacing his windows was kept in, making it make no sense as Ned wasn't near him at all in that time. As well as this, Ned coming over to Snake and asking him what would his mother say for doing that and Snake responding was cut but Ned telling Snake that he can change his life and Snake agreeing was kept in. It is assumed that it was due to there being a fair amount of blood visible from the gun shot wound. However, recent re-runs keep the scene of the Bullet bouncing back and hitting Snake in, as well as Ned saying he's replacing his windows before going to the next scene of Ned having replaced his windows.
- Homer putting a plastic bag over Snake's head was cut as well.
- The line from the erotic cake owner about what the cake is was cut as well (the one which Marge didn't want to know what it was).
- The Bounty Hunter scene was cut in parts.
- When Homer and Ned catch up to Fat Tony who was on the train, like with Snake, Homer putting a bag over Fat Tony's head was also cut as well as Homer putting a bag over his own head.
Trivia
- When the Irish stepdancers are introduced, Reel Around The Sun from Riverdance plays.
- Erotic cakes previously appeared in the "Homer³" segment of "Treehouse of Horror VI", when a three-dimensional Homer found himself in the real world and visited an erotic cake shop.
Goofs
- Homer destroys the subway doors with his car. When the camera turns around, the doors are still intact.
- There is no sandwich in the bag before Homer put the bag on Fat Tony head, then when he takes it off, it just appears.
