Shotgun Pete's is a wedding chapel just over the state line where Homer and Marge got married.
History[]
It represents an inexpensive place where weddings are done in a cookie-cutter manner, mainly the stereotype of quickie Nevada weddings. It is used to repeat customers, as couples are given tickets to be punched, whereupon the tenth wedding is done at the expense of the business. One employee includes a local justice of the peace, who marries the couple. There is apparently a gambling house nearby, as the wedding chapel's complimentary gift to Marge and Homer was $10 worth of casino chips.[1]
Behind the Laughter[]
In the earlier drafts it was named Lucky 7's which was also used in "The Simpsons Uncensored Family Album".
It was inspired by Whiskey Pete's Casino in Primm, Nevada just across the state line from California.
