Article Structure[]

Characters[]

• The pages for the character articles need to be titled in the format <guest star's name> (character). If the person is better known by a stage name (such as Sting or 50 Cent), use the stage name followed by (character).
• The character articles for self-voicing guest stars must be written in In-Universe style, as detailed in Project Characters.
• The focus of the article needs to be on how the guest stars appear as characters on the show. A few details about the guest star's real-life accomplishments / claim to fame are fine.
• At the top of the article, place a line informing the reader that the page is about the character and provide a link to the article for the real-life guest star. For examples, consult one of the character articles above.
• Make sure the article is categorized appropriately: The character articles should all have the Characters Voiced by Guest Stars category, as well as any other applicable categories, such as Celebrities, Musicians, One-time Characters, and so on.

Guest stars[]

• The pages for the guest star articles can be titled with the person's name. If the person is better known by a stage name, use the stage name for the title.
• Guest star articles need to have the Guest star infobox.
• For images of guest stars, using photos from their Wikipedia pages is generally fine. However, be sure to do the following:
• Verify that it's permissible to use the image on wiki projects in general or that the image is in the public domain. This will be the case for most images on Wikipedia, but it's better to check than to assume.
• When you upload the image to Simpsons Wiki, provide the appropriate licensing information. Including the URL for the image on Wikipedia would be helpful in case any questions arise about licensing issues.
• In the body of the article, provide more biographical information than in the person's character article. However, be reasonable. There's no need to replicate the entire content of someone's Wikipedia article or IMDB entry, for example.
• Including an Appearances section is fine, even if the guest star appeared in only one episode.
• Include an "External links" section with links to the person's Wikipedia article and IMDB entry. Other relevant links are also fine. For example, the person's official website and/or a link to another wiki on which they have a significant presence, such as Wookieepedia for Mark Hamill and Memory Alpha for Leonard Nimoy.
• Include a line at the top of the page informing readers that the article is about the guest star, and provide a link to the article about their character. For examples, consult the table above.
• At the bottom of the article, add the "Season N Guest Stars" template(s) for the season(s) in which the guest star appeared.
• Place the article in the Self-voicing guest stars category, as well as whatever other categories are applicable.

Miscellaneous[]

• For groups (such as bands like Green Day, The Dixie Chicks, etc.):
• If the main significance of their appearance on the show is as a group rather than as individuals, feel free to make character and guest star articles for the group rather than for each individual member.
• Title the articles as <group name> for the real-life group, and <group name> (characters) for the group's character article. For example: The Ramones and The Ramones (characters).
• In the episodes in which the guest stars appear as themselves, make sure that links referring to the guest stars link to the guest star and character articles, as appropriate.
• If the link refers to the actual guest star, link to the guest star article.
• If the link refers to their character, link to the character article.
• Make sure that the characters and guest stars are linked appropriately in infoboxes.
• In the guest star infobox, the "Character" entry should read "Himself/Herself/Themselves" and link to the character article.
• In the character infobox, the "Voiced by" entry should read "Himself/Herself/Themselves" and link to the guest star article.
• In the Special Guest Voices section of an episode infobox, the person's name should link to the guest star article, and the "Himself/Herself/Themselves" to the character article. So, for example, "Leonard Nimoy as Himself" would be typed as "Leonard Nimoy as Himself".
• As you finish a guest star/character pair of articles, if you feel that they are a particularly good example of how to handle an article split, feel free to add them to the list above.
