Policy change

Right now, the "Removing comments" section says the following:

Comments must not be removed from any page, even if you left it there. If you want a comment you wrote removed, use the strike through command <s></s> to put a line through it. If it was written by another user, it must be left there, even if it has no relevance to the article or is a stupid comment. However, stupid comments can be moved to an archived page or a forum if it has no relevance to the article.

I think we can get rid of this. I've seen my share of trolls and vandals over the years and any attention you give them is more than they deserve. By being forced to keep messages, they get attention. One of the previous admins has an archive page which is basically all profanity by a single anonymous user, but he couldn't get rid of those messages due to the policy.

Unless we have a good reason to keep this rule, I plan on removing it by the end of the month. The idea is to allow messages to be removed if they violate the block or vandalism policy. However, it would not be acceptable to remove a message because you disagree with it. —RRabbit42 (leave a message) 16:41, October 15, 2011 (UTC)

The policy has been updated. I have also removed a section that was kind of oppressive, which was that leaving "hello" messages can be considered spam. —RRabbit42 (leave a message) 22:18, November 19, 2011 (UTC)
