Cultural References
- The title of this episode is a reference to the musical picture Singin' in the Rain.
- Moe saying that the next tournament would be on ESPN8 (after winning the state finals) is a reference to the movie DodgeBall: A True Underdog Story.
- The scene in which Moe imagines himself in a bar in Paris is a reference to Manet's painting 'A Bar at the Folies-Bergère.' Moe's reflection in the mirror does not appear to be a natural perspective which is a feature of the painting.
Trivia
- The bowling team of Homer and Moe was previously seen in "Team Homer". As of this episode, Homer and Moe are the only original members of the Pin Pals left on the team, as Otto Mann was replaced by Mr. Burns in Team Homer, and Burns was later replaced by Dan Gillick in "Penny-Wiseguys", with Gillick replaced in this episode, and Apu likewise was replaced by either Barney, Lenny, or Carl.
- This episode marks the first appearance of The Yes Guy since "All About Lisa" and his first speaking role since "The Wandering Juvie".
- Lenny breaks the fourth wall by saying "A lot of music in this episode" while hearing "The Boys Are Back In Town."
- Bart appears to be wearing the same suit he had in Bart the Murderer.
Goofs
- When the bowling teams are introduced, there is a short scene with the Rollin' Oldies. This scene is shown later, but there is a moment, when you can see it.
- Fat Tony is seen on two teams, "Selma's Exes" and "The Legitimate Businessman".
- Just like Smithers in the previous bowling episode, Fat Tony somehow easily walks down the lane to shoot the last pin, when the area beyond there is very slippery.
- The State Finals Tournament never actually seems to happen.
