Slithers is Lord Montymort's loyal snake assistant. When Montymort dies (from being stabbed in his enchanted shin by student wizard Bart Simpson), Slithers is completely grief-stricken. To Bart and Lisa's disgust, Slithers swallows Montymort's body whole in typical snake fashion. Slithers sobs throughout the process and says, "In death we shall be together always."

Behind the Laughter

• Slithers is a parody of Lord Voldemort's pet snake, Nagini, in the Harry Potter book and movie series. The name bears also a similarity to Slytherin, the house into which Voldemort was sorted and the name of his ancestor, Salazar Slytherin.
• Slithers is also a parody of Waylon Smithers, and his name is a pun on Smithers' name.
