Springfield, Springfield is a song sung by Bart and Milhouse in the episode "Boy-Scoutz 'n the Hood". During the song, Bart and Milhouse go crazy from the All Syrup Super Squishee Bender from the Kwik-E-Mart and start spending $20 they found on various things such as gum, tattoos and seeing Cats: The Musical. The music was written by Alf Clausen and the lyrics by Dan McGrath. It is the twenty-first track of Songs in the Key of Springfield. It is also featured in the episode "All Singing, All Dancing."
Lyrics[]
- Bart & Milhouse:
- Springfield, Springfield,
- It's a helluva town!
- The schoolyard's up
- And the shopping mall's down
- The stray dogs go
- To the animal pound!
- Bart:
- Springfield, Springfield...
- Milhouse:
- Springfield, Springfield...
- Sailor:
- New York, New York...
- Bart:
- New York is that away, man!
- Sailor:
- Thanks, kid!
- Bart & Milhouse:
- It's a hell of a town!
- (montage of Bart and Milhouse taking on the town)
Trivia[]
The song is based on "New York, New York" from On the Town. (A reference to this is seen during the song where a lost sailor sings part of the song, but is corrected by Bart.)
