The State Assembly is a chamber of state legislature for whichever state Springfield is in which convenes at the State Capitol Building in Capitol City.
The Democratic Party are in the Majority as the assembly is led by Democrat Maxine Lombard as the Speaker.

Lisa is skipped ahead and Bart is held back into the same 3rd grade class taught by Ms. McConnell. Ms. McConnell takes them on a field trip to the State Capitol Building in Capitol City where they watch a floor debate over changing the state flag of Confederate flag raising out of the sea with sunbeams behind it proposed by the Capitol City Goofball who Ms. McConnell knows paid to get a seat representing Capitol City.[1]
Lisa is opposed to Mr. Burns' fracking operation on Evergreen Terrace and she writes to Maxine Lombard for help.
In spite of or maybe because of their direct opposition in their politics, Speaker Lombard and Mr. Burns start a relationship where they fight and makeup through their work at the State Assembly.[2]
