Trivia/Cultural References[]

  • The episode title is likely a reference to: The piracy-related plotine, as well as Steal This Book by Abbie Hoffman, which was a guide for followers of the countercultural movement of the 1960s and early 1970s. This was read in Mother Simpson.
  • No opening is in this episode.
  • This is the first episode to air in 2014.

  • Anytime any mention of how to conduct internet piracy is made, the scene immediately cuts to footage from the 2011 Goody's Fast Relief 500, a NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race at Martinsville Speedway that was broadcast on FOX. It is also shown during the credits. The first time the race footage is seen in this episode (when Bart is showing Homer how to conduct piracy), it is preceeded by the 1987-1993 FOX logo with a voiceover advising viewers that FOX will not show step-by-step instructions on how to illegally download movies.
