Step Brother from the Same Planet
When Nelson Met Lisa

Step Brother from the Same Planet is the eighth episode of Season 34 (originally produced as the final episode Season 33). It is an episode where Grampa marries another elderly woman who already has an adopted son, and Homer gains a stepbrother, who he is not very fond of at first.

Synopsis[]

Homer has a rival in Grampa's love in a "Stepbrothers" scenario.

Homer is stunned by his feelings of rage and resentment when Grampa becomes a doting stepfather to his girlfriend’s quirky young son. Lisa and Bart throw the ultimate slumber party.

Plot[]

The Simpson family went to the Art in the Park event, where Lisa encounters Sherri, Terri, and Janey, who are participating in a scavenger hunt for Francine's birthday celebration. Janey needs a photo of something sad. When Lisa realized that she wasn't invited to be a party narc, Sherri took a photo of her. Meanwhile, Marge wants to buy a small wooden along with some polish that contained carnauba wax. Meanwhile, Homer is mocking an elderly man with a man bun until to discover that it was Grampa. Grampa approached them and introduced his new girlfriend, Blythe, to Homer and Marge, mentioning they had been dating for six months. They encountered each other at the Retirement Castle, where Blythe had been employed to purify the residents' auras through a therapeutic sound bath. Grampa also revealed that he'll be moved in with Blythe.

Homer and Marge visit the house to have dinner with Blythe and Grampa, where they discover that Blythe has a son named Calvin. Homer believes that Calvin is an odd child and expects Grampa don't like him, but Grampa shows Calvin more kindness than he ever showed Homer. Upon seeing of this, Homer starts to regard Calvin with contempt and dismisses the meal that Calvin and Grampa had prepared together. During the dinner, Calvin gave eye drops to Grampa, resulting in him being partially blinded. Homer discovered that Calvin was skilled in taxidermy.

Bart and Lisa went to the Retirement Castle to retrieve Grandpa's denture cup. Upon discovering that Grampa has booked the room for two more weeks, they plan to set up a party in Grampa's room to increase Lisa's popularity. Returning home, Homer is complaining about Calvin isn't good cooking and his skills of taxidermy. Homer also revealed that it's allergy to the carnauba wax in the polish that Marge has been applying throughout the house, so he'll move to the house to stay with Grampa and Blythe temporarily. During bedtime, Calvin asks Homer to play the question but ends up annoying and starts fighting due to Homer dislikes him. Subsequently, they started a prank war, continuously escalating their antics. Gloria is dropping Martin off at their house but instead, he'll go to the Retirement Castle where Bart and Lisa have set up the party. Inside Grampa's room at the Retirement Castle, Bart and Lisa host a party that becomes a considerable success among the children.

While Homer is on the way to Calvin's taxidermy class at Second Life Taxidermy, Homer starts mocking Calvin. After the class, Homer went to Moe's Tavern, where he complained to his friends about Calvin. At school, Bart notices that Lisa is becoming fixated on hosting the ultimate party, not until her next party. At Blythe's house, Homer puts Calivin's hat on and kneels to peer into the mirror, mockingly mimicking Calvin. Grampa enters and starts to say kind words to Homer, which cheers Homer up. However, Homer's happiness is short-lived when he discovers that Grampa, having just used his eye drops, mistook him for Calvin. Homer went outside to sit alone in the backyard and is feeling depressed that his father showed more affection for Calvin. When Calvin approached Homer, he noticed that Homer was upset about his relationship with Grampa. Back inside, Homer showed to Calin how Grampa behaves towards him by having Calvin dress up as Homer. Calvin and Homer have a conversation, and Calvin persuades Homer to express his true feelings about their relationship to Grampa.

Bart exited the room due to the party getting out of control at the next party while Lisa was getting a bend aid due to Lewis having been stabbed with a juice box straw. The climbing wall collapses and crashes down into it, so Lisa decides to call the police to shut the party down. Upon the police arrival, Lisa settled into the backseat of the car to shake the churro sugar from her shoes. When the kids left the Retirement Castle, they thought that Lisa had been arrested by Chief Wiggum. Lisa persuaded Wiggum to drive off with her in the car, making the illusion for the children that she had truly been arrested. In the meantime, Calvin is participating in the taxidermy convention at the Shelbyville Inn. At the start of submission, Homer enters with his submission: two shells adorned with googly eyes, symbolizing himself and Grampa. Grampa is complaining about Homer's submission, but upon closer inspection, he understands Homer's sentiments towards their relationship. Grampa and Homer have a heartfelt moment where Grampa admits to Homer that everything was his own fault.

Some point later, as Grampa returned to the Retirement Castle, Blythe ended her relationship with Grampa to be with a man with whom she shared a stronger spiritual connection. Calvin's new boyfriend took him to Africa to study animals. Grampa was happy that he and Homer had rekindled their closeness, a sentiment he expressed to him over the phone. At the Simpson house, Homer refuses to answer Grampa, assuming it was just a butt-dial.
