Previous Episode References[]

- "Homer's Night Out" and "Lisa on Ice": Homer and foxy-boxing (one of the strip clubs Homer goes to in his search for Princess Kashmir is hosting a foxy-boxing match/Homer's line about girls sticking to girl sports, like "hot oil wrestling" and "foxy-boxing"/Homer refers to "foxy-boxing" as "the sport where chicks whale on each other" and thinks it's the same as tennis).
- "Marge Be Not Proud" and "Simpsoncalifragilisticexpiala(Annoyed Grunt)cious: Krusty hosts an event with the unfortunate initials "KKK" (A Krusty Kinda Khristmas/Krusty's Komedy Klassics/Krusty Kharity Klassic).

- "The Simpsons Spin-Off Showcase" ("The Love-Matic Grampa"): Reference to Homer one day disrespecting his father when he dies (burying him naked and selling his suit to buy a ping-pong table/going from building a mausoleum for him in the backyard to building a tennis court).
- "A Tale of Two Springfields": Homer pointing out a plot change in the episode (going from the badger being in the doghouse to the area code story/going from helping Grampa Simpson create a final resting place to The Simpsons having their own tennis court).
Cultural References[]
- The episode title is a pun on the comic strip (and movie) Dennis the Menace (The American version, not the British version).
- When the tennis tournament puts Homer and Bart into competition over who gets to have Marge as a partner, Lisa makes a reference to Oedipus.
- When Andre Agassi introduces himself at the tennis match, Homer asks, "The wrestler?", confusing Agassi for professional wrestler André the Giant.
- Grandpa sings the "What's New Pussycat?" theme by Tom Jones at the talent show, replacing "whoa whoa whoa" with "Ow, ow, ow, ow" and "Oh, God, no!" having injured himself while attempting to dance.
- When Homer is in the shower, Bart adjusts the hot and cold water to make him scream to the tune of "Mary had A Little Lamb", then "Beethoven's 5th Symphony".
- In the supermarket Lou refers to Homer and Marge as the Los Angeles Clippers of doubles tennis. At the time (early 2000s), the Clippers were regarded as the worst NBA franchise in history.
Goofs[]
- Homer mistook tennis for foxy boxing, but didn't know what it was called. He referred to it as "the sport where the chicks whale on each other." Previously, however, in "Lisa on Ice", Homer knew the name of the sport (when he was telling Lisa that girls should stick to "girl sports," like hot-oil wrestling and foxy boxing) and earlier in "Homer's Night Out", Homer took Bart to a strip club that was hosting a foxy boxing match in his search to find Princess Kashmir and apologize to her.
- However, given Homer's mental capacity (and the terrible continuity of the show), he (and the writers) could have easily forgotten.
- In Homer's imaginary sequence, the trophy of Homer's head on the wall has skin behind his hair where it shouldn't be.
