  • The title is a reference and a spin-off to the Treehouse of Horror series.
  • This episode marks Russi Taylor's final performance as Martin Prince, as she passed away from colon cancer on July 26, 2019. After this episode, her characters are now voiced by Grey Griffin.
  • The end credits features footage of the Bart Simpson balloon from the 1991 Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade.
  • This episode is the second in the series to have the "Viewer discretion is advised" warning before airing of the episode, after "There's Something About Marrying".
  • Clocking in at nearly 25 minutes, this is the longest regular episode of The Simpsons to date; this does not count "The Great Phatsby", which was produced as two episodes but aired in an hour-long format.

  • The scene where a rabbit makes a throat-cutting gesture to Turkey Homer mirrors a scene from the 1993 film Schindler's List, in which a German boy makes the gesture to a group of Jews being transported to a death camp.
  • Bart's turkey form looks similar to his raven form.

  • This segment is a parody of the dystopian science fiction anthology television series Black Mirror:
    • Charlie Brook stars as the Social rating voice.
    • A poster of the San Junipero is seen, a reference to the episode "San Junipero".
    • Marge getting downvoted after the dinner guest find out that she did not cook the dinner, references the episode "Nosedive".
    • Joe Quimby is seen on television with his pants down, next to Plopper, refers the episode "The National Anthem".

    • The grill had the glyph from interactive film "Black Mirror: Bandersnatch" and the episode "White Bear".
    • The automated pizza truck runs over Hans Moleman, a reference to the episode "Crocodile".
    • The painting place above the couch is the USS Callister, referencing to the episode "USS Callister".
    • The clock in the kitchen is the same one from the episode "White Christmas".
    • The snow globe is a reference to the episode "White House".
  • The title is a reference to the 2004 film The Day After Tomorrow.
