The Book that ate Springfield is a comic strip which appears in Bart Simpson Comics Issue #27 Boy of Mystery.
Plot
When Krusty promotes a new book, Larry Snotter and the School For Monsters, every kid in town gets a copy, except Lisa as Bart beats her to the last copy. Bart later gets bored of the book and gives it to Lisa. Soon Bart realizes that everyone except him is reading it. Soon though the book affects Krustys ratings as well. Bart, The Flanders and Krusty manage to get Mayor Quimby to ban the book and there is a book burning in town. Though after, Bart sneakily starts to enjoy a copy of Larry Snotter in the cupboard\
