  • 20 years after the episode depicted Winnie the Pooh as a bear that had intent to attack Homer, a horror film depicting Winnie the Pooh as a bloodthirsty killer would be released called Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey.
  • In Homer's nightmare fantasy about bears coming to get him include: Winnie-the-Pooh, Paddington Bear, Gummi Bears, Teddy Grahams, Smokey the Bear, Snuggle the Fabric-Softener Bear, two large bears wearing Chicago Bears uniforms and a seven-foot tall Care Bear with a crowbar. As the fantasy is going on a more horrific version of The Teddy Bears' Picnic plays as they march angrily towards Homer.
  • This is the second episode where a Simpson bonds with a bear. The first was "The Call of the Simpsons".
  • This is the second episode where Homer continually carries and eats a big piece of food which gets less edible before he can finish it. The first was "Selma's Choice".
  • Homer apparently developed arkoudaphobia (fear of bears) following his encounter with the bear, since he had a nightmare about them going to get him.
  • This is one of only 5 or 6 episodes to feature the Simpsons rumpus room.
  • The hunter eats his eagle sandwich in quite similar fashion to Nibbler from Futurama.

Goofs[]

  • Although the bear attacks Homer throughout the episode, the tracking clip is only seen right before they become friends.
  • In the scene where the bear corners Homer in the cave, in most shots, Homer's barefoot, but in other shots, he has shoes on.
  • Homer's tie disappears when his coworkers laugh at him.
  • In Homer's fantasy, he says the "intensive Care Bear" is holding a crowbar when he's really holding a tire iron.
  • On the closing Credits, Joel H. Cohen is Credited as Executive Story Editor making Andrew Kreisberg the Story Editor and Matt Warburton the Staff Writer.
