Cultural References

• The title is a reference to 2022 film The Banshees of Inisherin. The plots of the episode and the movie have parallels, as they both involve a man refusing to speak to his longtime friend, with tension arising when the latter friend still tries to make him talk. The Simpsons' neighbor Mrs. McCormick who delivers ominous predictions is also a character in The Banshees of Inisherin.
• During the U-completeamine hallucination, Homer and Ned morph into several "famous duos":

• This is the first new episode that premiered on network TV in 2025. While "The Past and the Furious" technically counts as the first new episode of 2025, it premiered as a streaming exclusive episode on Disney+ rather than on network television.
• The song mash-up notably includes voice work from the late Phil Hartman for the first time since "Bart the Mother", his last episode before his death.
• Because he gave Homer his usual green sweater, Ned wears a blue sweater for most of the episode until Homer returns his green one at the end.
