Cultural References[]

  • The title of the episode is a reference to the television show The Good Wife.
  • The bottle of Sriracha is a parody of Huy Fong Foods Incorporated's famous Sriracha chili bottle. Huy Fong Foods Inc. is headquartered in Irwindale, California, previously in Rosemead, California. Irwindale is an exclusive industrial suburb of Los Angeles, while Rosemead is home to a large Asian community. Many Asian companies have factories and headquarters in Irwindale and also the City of Industry because of their locations in the San Gabriel Valley, where nearby cities such as El Monte, San Gabriel, Walnut, Diamond Bar, Alhambra, Arcadia, and Monterey Park have had growing Asian populations over the years.
  • Homer takes Bart and Lisa to the E4 convention (Expensive Electronic Entertainment Expo), a parody of the annual E3 videogame convention. The sequence parodies many franchises and products from the videogame industry:

  • Ratatouille: The meth lab worker's revelation about food, complete with zoom in through his eye into his memory of his childhood, is an allusion to Anton Ego's experience when he eats the ratatouille Remy prepared for him.
  • The Swedish Chef from "The Muppets" appears as a cameo in the episode.
  • The Ethiopian pop song heard on the soundtrack is "Nama", performed by Fikre-Addis Nekatebeb.

Trivia[]

  • This episode shows that the Simpson family has at least four computers (Three laptops and the personal computer in Lisa's bedroom).
  • This is the seventh episode to not have the Couch Gag, Chalkboard Gag and the Billboard Gag.
  • This is the first episode since "Lisa the Drama Queen" to have the usual and normal title screen with no characters or any extras involved with it.
  • During the montage, a parody of the song "Empire State Of Mind" by Jay-Z is being played over it, the song has the same tone but the lyrics are replaced with food referencing lyrics.

Goofs[]

  • Nocornermel

Sideshow Mel's pillow missing its corner

When Lisa is playing Marching Band, a screen with various college logos is displayed. One of the colleges, Ohio State University, only has the "OS", when in reality, it is always abbreviated as "OSU".
    • The missing "U" was likely intentional to avoid copyright.
  • Bart and Lisa are able to open the car doors to go according to Bart: "See? What else do they do wrong?" Even though Marge locked the car doors just a few minutes ago, and she is never seen unlocking the doors after locking the doors initially after they are seen driving home from the cross games.
  • Some of the Amharic signs in Little Ethiopia aren't actually Amharic, but Tigrinya from the country of Eritrea, and another regional dialect.
  • When the foodies eat "bread" at El Chemistri, the top left corner of Sideshow Mel's pillow disappears for a frame.
