The Good, the Sad and the Drugly |
|
Trivia[]
- Jenny resembles Samantha Stankey from "Bart's Friend Falls in Love". Ironically, the exact reverse of the episode's events seem to be the main plot line. Like in "Bart's Friend Falls in Love" when Bart tries to ruin Milhouse's romance with Samantha Stankey and in this episode Milhouse tries to ruin Bart's relationship with Jenny. Stankey herself appears in the episode.
- When the letters from the school sign above the front door, say "Springfield Elementary School", fell down, the N's and a broken M became Z's over Willy's head.
- When Milhouse said "Hello Bart" it sounded like something Sideshow Bob would say.
- The Good, the Sad and the drugly is a reference to some of the characters.
- The last time Homer felt oblivious about 'El Barto' being Bart's alter-ego despite the resemblance was in "Homer's Odyssey".
- Principal Skinner alludes to going to therapy, which he was confirmed to do in "Fear of Flying".
- As of this episode, every main Simpsons family member (except Maggie) has taken drugs.
- Homer uses Nappien in "Crook and Ladder".
- Marge takes Steroids in "The Strong Arms of the Ma".
- Bart gets addicted to Focusyn in "Brother's Little Helper".
- Grampa would go on to take MustBeNys in "The Scorpion's Tale".
- Some people have referred to the news of the polar bear hanging themselves in prison a prediction of Jeffery Epstein’s death.
Cultural References[]
- When Lisa searches for what Springfield will be like in 50 years on the computer she searches the web site Oogle, a very obvious parody of Google.
- The title is a reference to the film: The Good, the Bad and the Ugly.
- When giving Lisa her pills, Homer says "Sounds like someone's having a case of the Mondays", a reference to the movie Office Space.
- When Lisa first takes the pills the Louis Armstrong song "What A Wonderful World" plays.
- When Lisa is under the drug effect in her room, the song "Don't Worry Be Happy" by Bobby McFerrin plays.
- When Bart drinks a squishee at the Kwik-E-Mart, Apu refers to the Shrek series.
- When Lisa takes the pills, she says, "I'm going to Dizzyland," very loosely based on the Disneyland Resort.
Goofs[]
- Bart and Milhouse pulled the prank outside of school hours meaning that Milhouse couldn't be suspended. It would have to be during school hours if there are kids there and the school bell rings.
- When Groundskeeper Willie is knocked unconscious, three Ns land next to him. However, there are only two Ns in "SPRINGFIELD ELEMENTARY SCHOOL". However, one of the "M" legs fell, making the M look like an N.
- Shouldn't Lisa be smart enough to fact check the Internet articles about Springfield's bleak future? What if they were part of a spoof news site like The Onion (the last polar bear hanging himself feels like something The Onion would write) or written by a conspiracy theorist as part of their personal website or blog?
