Cultural References[]
- The episode title is a reference to the 1984 space opera film, The Last Starfighter.
- There is a real life arcade game called "The Last Barfighter".
- Homer swapping Maggie for the Crystal Skull is a reference to the first Indiana Jones movie, Raiders of the Lost Ark, where Indiana Jones steals the Golden Idol.
- Coincidentally, another Indiana Jones reference occurs when Lenny says "Whoa, A Crystal skull! Like from my least favorite Indiana Jones movie and most favorite Shia LaBeouf movie", obviously referring to Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.
- "The Confidental" is a reference to the New York Continental Hotel from the John Wick franchise, and Ian McShane portrays Winston in the franchise, also a manager.
- "Eightbucks Coffee" is an obvious parody of Starbucks Coffee.
- "Cork & Mindy" is a reference to the sitcom Mork & Mindy.
- Homer says that the tequila inspired George Clooney to make his own semi-authentic tequila. He co-founded the Casamigos tequila company in 2013, but it was purchased in 2017.

- Dr. Hibbert says he worked his way through medical school tending bar. In an earlier episode, he said he worked as a stripper called "Malcolm Sex."
- The song "Tequila" by The Champs plays on the radio while Homer is driving before he punches the radio upon hearing the word "Tequila".
- This is the second episode to have Homer renounce the idea of continuing to drink beer when given the opportunity to resume due to realizing the benefits of being sober after being forced to quit drinking, after "Duffless".
Goofs[]
- In a picture of the Pin Pals in Moe's Tavern, Apu is colored yellow.
- The Crystal Skull was destroyed at the Squidport, but the remains of it were found next to a wooden fence away from the Squidport, appearing when Bart and Lisa were taking Maggie for a stroll.
- Moe claimed he had never been to the Power Plant before, despite working there in the Season 26 episode "My Fare Lady".
- In the Season 20 episode "Double, Double, Boy in Trouble", it was mentioned that Mrs. Gumble died, although this episode contradicts that statement during the post-antibooze reunion.
