- The Springfield Atoms fans partying is a reference to when Philadelphia Eagles fans partied in downtown Philadelphia after the Eagles won Super Bowl LII, where fans flipped parked cars, set other cars on fire, looted storefronts, and vandalized property.
- The Atoms play against the Los Angeles Chargers NFL team; the Chargers win the game by a lopsided score.
- When the other team retreats after a blowout loss to the Atoms, they board a Winnipeg Blue Bombers bus. The Winnipeg Blue Bombers are a CFL team and the defending Grey Cup champions, winning back-to-back Grey Cups in 2019 and 2021 (the 2020 CFL season was canceled due to COVID-19).
