• Binky from Life in Hell can be seen on one of the picture frames inside the house.

Trivia

• Homer and Marge do not appear in this short. This is the first short where they are not present, mentioned, or seen in pictures.
  • This is also the first short to not feature adults.
• There is a character which resembles Marge in Maggie's bedroom. This character has yellow hair instead.
• Maggie also had problems losing her pacifier in "A Streetcar Named Marge" and "Crook and Ladder", though her reactions in these episodes were completely different.
• A possible reference to this short occurs in "Lisa Goes Gaga" when Maggie gives Lisa a pacifier. She reluctantly sucks on it, noting that "it worked once."
• Maggie is revealed to like hot sauce in this short.
• Despite Ned and Todd first appearing in "Simpsons Roasting on an Open Fire", their house is seen, marking its first appearance.

Goofs

• When Maggie bites Bart's leg, she has a full set of teeth, which one-year-olds lack.
