- Homer and Marge do not appear in this short. This is the first short where they are not present, mentioned, or seen in pictures.
- This is also the first short to not feature adults.
- There is a character which resembles Marge in Maggie's bedroom. This character has yellow hair instead.
- Maggie also had problems losing her pacifier in "A Streetcar Named Marge" and "Crook and Ladder", though her reactions in these episodes were completely different.
- A possible reference to this short occurs in "Lisa Goes Gaga" when Maggie gives Lisa a pacifier. She reluctantly sucks on it, noting that "it worked once."
- Maggie is revealed to like hot sauce in this short.
- Despite Ned and Todd first appearing in "Simpsons Roasting on an Open Fire", their house is seen, marking its first appearance.
