The episode title is a pun on the film The Parent Trap.
- Which is ironic seeing that Bart and Homer get attached together, rather than separated.
"Dang Me" by Roger Miller is the song playing on the car radio at the end of the episode.
One of the sound effects Bill and Marty use in their show is the line "Damn dirty apes" from the movie Planet of the Apes.
In addition to the $40 prize for the winning the radio contest, Homer also receives a Blue Öyster Cult medallion. "(Don't Fear) The Reaper" by B.Ö.C. is also played over the closing credits.
