The Halloween theme of this level contains references to the Treehouse of Horror episodes.
The clown bed in Bart's bedroom is the same bed Homer made for a younger bart in Lisa's First Word.
This is the only level where Apu has no main part in the storyline, as he is a drivable character.
The zombies throughout the level behave as normal pedestrians, even talking to fellow zombies, and do not treat the humans walking around the level (Homer, Wiggum, Carl, Bumblebee Man, Gil, Skinner, and girl trick-or-treaters) unusually at all.
Despite the implication being the drivers are killed when driving the waste into the path of the tractor beam, they can be seen jumping out and surviving.
The shortcut house near the Simpsons' House has the words "NO TV AND NO BEER MAKE HOMER GO CRAZY" written all over it, a reference to Treehouse of Horror V.
The layout of this level has severe changes from Level 1 and Level 4. Here are some to name:
The First Church of Springfield is shown to be destroyed and burned down, presumably from the zombie invasion.
The school bridge has been destroyed, causing the rich side to be cut off and inaccessible. Despite this, you can still see a bit of the area in the background. The reason for this, is possible limitations for space left in the game.
The Power Plant's inside entrance has been shut off and is also inaccessible.
The Springfield Cemetery is open and able to be drove through.
Many of the objects have been changed to suit Halloween, such as the grass becoming darker and jack-o-lanterns being in every corner of the level.
