Stories[]
Poolin' Around[]
The Simpsons are at the pool and Homer Simpson dives in, splashing a stage upon which Mayor Quimby is trying to be re-elected, and drenching the whole crowd. Mayor Quimby then decides to cancel the pool's budget despite Lisa Simpson's protest that he can't punish the town for what one man did. She then decides that she and her family could run the pool, with herself and Marge as the brains and Homer as the "eye candy".
The next day, Homer puts sand around the pool to make it look like a beach, but then the Crazy Cat Lady shows up with some of her cats, making Lisa worry that they will use it as a litter box. When patrons show up, Marge decides that someone needs to keep the kids occupied, so she sets up a build-your-own-sandcastle area. Maggie Simpson and Gerald Samson build sandcastles, but Marge thinks they are doing it wrong, and then the babies throw sand.
Homer then starts riding around on an amphibian wheelchair, irking Lisa as he is not disabled. Jimbo Jones then eats a sandwich stolen from Martin Prince, Jr. and gets cramps from swimming afterwards. When he yells for help, Marge fishes him out, and he tries in vain to get her to kiss him by lying that he needs mouth-to-mouth. Milhouse Van Houten, Martin, Lewis Clark, Richard, Wendell Borton, and a sixth boy then go to play pirates on an inflatable raft, but then the Crazy Cat Lady throws a cat at the raft, which punctures it with its claws.
Homer tries to save the boys on his wheelchair, but sinks. Luckily, when he gets out of the wheelchair, he floats back up to the surface belly-first and the boys grab hold of him. Homer then reveals that he called the maker of the wheelchair and had him fund the pool instead.
McBain in "A Hero's Hero"[]
McBain goes to get a sandwich, but it is no longer in his bag. He thinks Mendoza stole it and busts into his compound, demanding he tell him where the sandwich is, but Mendoza claims not to know. McBain thinks Mendoza is lying and threatens to shoot Mendoza, but then he gets a call revealing that it was actually Lt. Ferguson who ate his sandwich.
Bartman Unmasked![]
Bart Simpson, as Bartman, is punching himself. When Jimbo asks him why, Bartman reveals he is being hypnotised by an orphanage robber. A bird makes the robber slip off the roof, freeing Bartman, and then the robber dangles from the building and demands Bartman save him. The robber grabs hold of Bartman's mask, making it and his cape fall off, before falling himself. Bartman throws a donut onto the road, making Wiggum run up and break the robber's fall.
However, Kent Brockman, Martin, and Jimbo then see Bart mask-less, revealing his identity, and then Kent broadcasts it on the news. Luckily for Bart, this makes people treat him well - Marge offers him a second slice of pie for being a hero, Seymour Skinner assumes his pranks were all an act to protect his identity and lets him off the hook, and everybody likes him.
It is not all good, however, since Groundskeeper Willie wants Bart to get the sports balls off the roof for him, the Flanderses want to borrow Bart's rope, and Dewey Largo wants him to move a grand piano. These deeds make Bart tired, and he has lent out his equipment, so he skips a night of patrolling. Then, Wiggum arrests Bart because vigilantes were technically illegal.
Fortunately, there is a computer with internet in his jail cell, so he messages Lisa for help. She enters the cell and points out that Wiggum has no proof that Bart is Bartman since "anyone can wear a costume". Outside, she proves her point by showing a crowd of people all wearing Bartman costumes and claiming to be Bartman.
Wiggum tells Lou to arrest the whole town, since he now realises that anyone could have been wearing the costume, but Lou points out that they would have no taxpayers then, so he frees Bart instead. Bart then tells the hypnotist that he owes him a favour and has him hypnotise the crowd of costumed people into forgetting that Bart is Bartman.
McBain in "Caffeine Fiends!"[]
Jeremy Freedman sells McBain a coffee and reveals to him that he added "something extra special" to it. This causes McBain to think Freedman is a secret agent and the special ingredient is poison. McBain intimidates Freedman into revealing the ingredient, but he reveals that it was just nutmeg. McBain is confused as to why his instincts were wrong, and a man suggests he was on a caffeine rush since he'd had six cups of coffee, so McBain decides to switch to decaf.
McBain in "Reduce, Reuse, Re-Vengeance!"[]
McBain is about to throw out his coffee grounds, but finds a recyclable can in the trash. This makes him suspect that an ex-military man named Randall "Duke" Mitchell is acquiring chemical weapons. Thus, McBain tracks down Mitchell and nukes his home.
What the Hole?[]
Marge is going to take Maggie to a babies' casino and tells Homer to fix a hole in the roof. He gets a bag of supplies, goes outside, and throws it onto the roof, but it falls through, making another hole. He tries to use a nail gun, but has trouble, sending nails everywhere and creating even more holes. He then falls through the roof, making another one.
He tries patching the holes up with boards, but ends up knocking the chimney off. Later, Marge phones him and asks him how the job is going. Homer says that there is no longer a hole, and Lisa asks why he lied. Homer reveals that he didn't lie, since there's now no roof at all.
Trivia[]
- Error: At first, the costumed crowd was only Comic Book Guy, Carl Carlson, Lenny Leonard, Barney Gumble, Martin, Willie, Skinner, Jimbo, Nelson Muntz, the Flanderses, and Ralph Wiggum. However, later, Mayor Quimby and Otto Mann appeared inexplicably, and then so did Moe Szyslak, Hans Moleman, Apu Nahasapeemapetilon, Dolph Starbeam, and Kearney Zzyzwicz.
