Stories[]
"Yippee Ki-Yay, Mr Flanders"[]
Homer is crawling through a narrow tunnel with a lighter, claiming he needs to save Marge from "those monsters". Thirty minutes prior, they are both at a Christmas party at the nuclear power plant, having just left a store, with Homer having bought presents for his Secret Santa, revealing that he pulled his own name. Marge berates Homer for being so selfish, and then he spills beer on himself and goes off to change.
Smithers interrupts the party to announce the arrival of a charity, which consists of Ned Flanders and the Lovejoys. Ned encourages the workers and guests to make donations, but Homer thinks that he's holding them hostage and is forcing them to donate. Mr. Burns, on a walkie talkie that he was trying to talk to Smithers through, furthers Homer's misunderstanding by claiming the people are being "held hostage by charity", and orders Homer to usurp the party.
Soon after, Marge rings Homer and tells him to just come back without doing anything stupid, but he refuses and swears to deal with the "terrorists", confusing her. He then runs off and tries to kill the power to end the party and climbs into the vents, which is where he was at the beginning of the story.
However, he is too heavy and crashes through the ceiling, into the room where the party is. Marge, angry and embarrassed, storms home on her own. This makes Homer realise that he had been selfish and he gives away the presents he bought to his coworkers. Carl is so grateful that he decides to take Homer to Moe's Tavern and then home.
The Mr Plow Mysteries![]
Chief Wiggum has an assignment with Homer. He is reluctant, but eventually agrees to it, and puts on his Mr. Plow jacket. Wiggum then reveals that he wants Homer to plow the snow to free up his car, which is buried in snow. Once the car is unburied, Wiggum and Homer go to the Kwik-E-Mart.
There, Jimbo, Kearney, and Dolph have stolen some of Apu's syrup and are using it to make bootleg Squishees out of snow. Homer and Wiggum try to interrogate the boys, but get distracted, and then Apu reveals that the syrup is expired since he put it in storage years ago and forgot about it. Jimbo then starts hallucinating from drinking the expired syrup.
Then, Homer and Wiggum get called to Burns Mansion, where Mr. Burns reveals that Smithers was training the Hounds for a dogsled race, but someone stole them. Homer and Wiggum smell something and follow the smell into the toolshed, where the Hounds are, gorged on bacon. Mr. Burns finds footprints that don't match Smithers, proving him innocent, but Wiggum and Homer are too busy fighting over the leftover bacon to track the actual thief.
At the retirement castle, Homer and Wiggum find Jasper Beardsley, who has seemingly been stabbed to death with a popsicle he and Abe were fighting over. Since Abe can't remember if he stabbed Jasper, Wiggum decides to give him a life sentence, but upon noticing Abe has hot cocoa, the two fight over it and spill it on Jasper. He then sits up, revealing that he isn't dead after all. Abe then remembers that he was trying to swipe the popsicle, since Jasper freezes solid when he is too cold.
At Moe's Tavern, Barney Gumble claims that Moe Szyslak has been serving pigeon wings illegally. Homer, however, reveals that Moe is innocent because Barney gave expired syrup to the kids, took Burns's hounds, and turned down the heat at the rest home, allowing Jasper to freeze. Wiggum asks Barney why he did it, and Homer reveals that it was so he could start his Plow King business with no competition (revealed through his social media posts). Moe then serves everyone the expired, hallucinogenic syrup (which was sold to him by Otto Mann after Moe's delivery truck couldn't get through the snow).
Fright Before Christmas[]
A Rigellian assigns Kang and Kodos to study Earth on Christmas, threatening to serve them for dinner if they fail. They land in Springfield, where Bart, Lisa, Barney, Lenny, Carl, Krabappel, Frink, the Sea Captain, Dr. Nick, Selma, and one other man are starring in a zombie Christmas movie. Kang and Kodos think the humans really have become zombies, and they are confused by the Christmas lights.
Then, more people start acting in the film, playing the attackers of the zombies, causing Kang and Kodos to think the humans are trying to attack them. The director, meanwhile, has noticed the aliens, but doesn't care and decides to just have them in the movie. Kang and Kodos are shocked by Barney's halitosis (which they mistake for toxic waste), Homer strangling Bart as punishment for calling him ugly, and Apu selling expired food and overpricing his products.
Then, the aliens enter the retirement home, where the residents welcome them since they are so lonely, even aliens are welcome. Luckily, Kang and Kodos's boss is pleased with their mission and takes them home.
The Winter of Our Discount Tent[]
Homer promises Bart, Lisa, and Maggie that he will take them camping, but he never gets around to it. At New Year's, he has a nightmare, in which the kids push him into the Arctic ocean as punishment for never taking him camping, which makes him decide to finally take the kids camping.
He drives them, and Marge, into the woods in their sleep, but unfortunately, a freak snowstorm arrives, buries the car, and blows away the tent. Lisa builds an igloo, but they still don't have food, or a way to build a fire. Bart finds a wolf, thinks it's a dog, and tries to teach it tricks, but his family gets scared and runs away.
Luckily, the wolf does not eat Bart and it does the tricks he has it do. However, they still have no food. Kent Brockman and Steve arrive, and Homer jumps on them, claiming he wants to eat them, but fortunately, they take the Simpsons to a dog show and give them some food. Then, it is revealed that the "wolf" really is just a dog (specifically, a female show dog named Thunder).
Homer apologises for the trip going wrong, but his family is actually happy -- Marge got a break from cooking, the girls are having fun with the dogs, and Bart was entertained by the look on Steve's face when he thought Homer would eat him. Homer then falls asleep and dreams that he is at the North Pole again, this time surfing on an iceberg with his family.
Sideshow Bob's Holiday Wishes![]
Sideshow Bob recites a parody of "The Night Before Christmas" in his cell. He decorates the cell with toilet paper, celebrates with the other inmates, and then sends Bart a letter that reads, "Die, Bart, die".
Trivia[]
- When Homer crashes through the ceiling, Lenny exclaims, "It's raining men!", which is the title of a song. Smithers replies, "Hallelujah!", which is a reference to both his homosexuality, and a lyric from said song.
- In Homer's nightmare, a mermaid who resembles Ariel from The Little Mermaid can be seen, and Homer mentions The Pirates of the Carribean.
