The Wonderful World of Lisa Simpson is the an issue of the Simpsons One-Shot Wonders comic book series. It was released on December of 2013 in the United States.

Summary[]

"Whether she's extolling the virtues of vegetarianism, raising awareness about the world's moral and social ills, or simply playing with her Malibu Stacy dolls and dreaming of ponies, Lisa Simpson, the pint-sized, pre-teen progressive, may just be the smartest and savviest citizen in Springfield -- and she's still only in the second-grade! Enter the world of Lisa Simpson, a joy-filled journey through a realm of high ideals and girlish delights!"

Stories[]

The Pyramids of Lisa[]

Bart Simpson and Lisa Simpson are watching the news, when Kent Brockman announces a newly-discovered pyramid. Bart finds this dorky, but Lisa is impressed and wishes she were a pharaoh herself. She imagines herself and her acquaintances in Ancient Egypt.

In her imagination, Pharaoh Lisa tames all the wild animals, cures leprosy alongside Healer Hibbert, makes wind turbines, and creates freedom of religion. Then, she makes Bart build a sphynx-esque statue of her and does an inspirational speech.

Just then, however, the fantasy turns dark when a thunderstorm arrives, followed by a swarm of angry gods, who think that Lisa's humanitarian acts are sacrilegious since only they get to decide on others' happiness. The gods make the animals run rampant, but then Marge Simpson snaps Lisa out of her daydream by calling her to dinner. Lisa is glad that what she imagined could not happen in reality, but then it turns out that the pyramid is attached to a statue identical to the one she imagined.

Honey Pooch Pooch[]

Lisa is entering Santa's Little Helper in a dog show, along with Moe Szyslak, Üter Zörker, Bumblebee Man, and Milhouse Van Houten. Lisa reveals that she is doing it because Santa's Little Helper is insecure, since another racing dog, Maximus, has moved into the neighbourhood. Lisa and Milhouse watch Sideshow Mel announce the show, and they see several other contestants.

Lindsey Naegle tries to make her dog Mr. Fluffikins more businesslike, Cletus Spuckler and Brandine Spuckler tell their dog Festus von Bartholomew III not to drool on the judge so much this year, and Rainier Wolfcastle tells Maximus, who is his dog, to pretend the ball he is balancing on is his enemy. Lisa thinks that Wolfcastle is being "a little hard" on Maximus, but Wolfcastle doesn't take Lisa seriously due to her age.

During the show, Comic Book Guy has his dog retrieve a comic (he retrieves the wrong one but does not urinate on it like he had previously) and Arnie Pye shows that his dog Newton can use the Internet, but Krusty the Clown (the announcer) is unimpressed. Wolfcastle has Maximus carry books on his head, ride a unicycle, jump through a burning hoop, and play chess against Moe.

Santa's Little Helper is the final contestant, but he botches up his game of fetch. However, Lisa points out that while he's not a very smart dog, he is a very cheerful and affectionate one. Her words move Krusty to tears, but Santa's Little Helper still loses (to a dog dressed as Krusty), so Lisa throws him a party to cheer him up.

Lisa's Lending Library[]

Lisa has opened up her own lending library full of books she has read on the summer reading list. Homer takes some Harry Potter books, but only to use as a coaster, to her annoyance. Milhouse then chooses Old Yeller and Huck Finn, but only to use as stilts, which angers Lisa even more. Then, Bart chooses a history book to make a ramp for his skateboard, which makes Lisa worry that nobody else is interested in actually reading.

Then, Hans Moleman and a boxer fight with books, the Crazy Cat Lady uses books for cat beds, Jimbo Jones balances books on his head, Santa's Little Helper chews on a book, and Burns and Smithers use them to play golf with. Lisa yells at the crowd for "abusing the literature" and complains about the unruly crowd to Marge.

However, Marge is using a book to balance the table, so Lisa angrily cancels the lending library. As she's doing so, Ralph Wiggum talks nonsense about little people that live in the "house" and borrow things, reminding her of one of her books, The Borrowers. She thinks that he must have read said book and gleefully walks off, even though the little people he is referring to are in fact just his imaginary friends.
