Cultural References

• The title of this episode is a reference to the film There Will Be Blood.
• This episode is dedicated to Kevin Curran, a writer who passed away on October 25, 2016, a few days before this episode aired.
• Kirk mentions the band Big Bad Voodoo Daddy before Homer entered the van.
• During the trip, they are listening to the song "You And Me And The Bottle Makes Three Tonight" by Straight No Chaser.
• During the song, Kirk messages Homer saying that he has watched The Godfather and completed Halo. He also says "designing the world's best Blues Brothers fanpage" while dressed as the main characters of the film.
• At the end of the episode, drunk Kirk says that "Jet fuel can't melt steel". This is a reference to a famous conspiracy theory around the September 11 terrorist attacks claiming that the planes alone would not be able to take down the twin towers.

Trivia

• This is the second episode in Season 28 without the opening intro or couch gag. The first was The Town.
• Clancy Wiggins is seen at the game at the beginning.
• According to https://twitter.com/mxedtr/status/795670288859942914 and a comment on Youtube the song in which Homer and Kirk sing about each other is called Pas de Dude. In french this means "No bud".
  • Also before the song starts Kirk says "Behind every succesful man is his assistant coach." This is a refernce to saying "Behind every successful man is a strong woman."
• This is the last episode to be produced in this run and so the last animated at Film Roman before the show's producers Gracie Films moved its new production to Fox Television Animation.

Goofs

• Lacrosse doesn't have the second highest concussion rate after Football. It actually stays behind other popular sports, such as Baseball, Basketball, Hockey, Soccer, Wrestling and Motorsports.
• The place of some of the people at the town meeting change between scenes.
• Homer says that "The mix tape isn't just the same song over and over again", but Kirk was holding a CD, not a mix tape.
• There are 12 kids on the Lacrosse team, but Field Lacrosse, the one being played in the episode, has a 10 player limit per team.
• The two children of Apu are not old enough to play either football or Lacrosse.
• This episode states that Kirk is surprised that Homer is his friend or that their friendship begins but they were already friends in some previous episodes. For example Homer took Kirk as his friend in The War of Art and A Milhouse Divided.
