  • Please see this thread that someone left on my wall. He is not a mod or admin but is carrying himself as one. I never got a copyright complaint from the staff and this dude is just some random person.

    • I’m just reminding him about copyright on this wiki.

    • "Remember your block on the Rocko's Modern Life Wiki? Your still not adding copyright disclaimers to the images."

You mentioned an outside wiki. You were not a mod or admin there. In fact I didn't know you before you came on my SIMPSONS page and began with issues from another wiki. Nothing was said to me about "adding copyright disclaiers to the images". It was just BANG! YOU GOT BANNED FOR COPYRIGHT SINCE YOU POSTED IMAGES FROM UNOFFICIAL THIRD PARTY SITES WHILE MY MONEY GOES TO NETFLIX SO I CAN ADD THE SAME IMAGES SINCE I PAY FOR THEM.  But that is a TOTALLY seperate issue. Why would you even bring something so offtopic here?

"please post a copyright notice for images every time, and don't forget it."

Yeah buddy you are not a mod. I don't know you and don't know why you said "don't forget it". Or else what?

    • I don't even care if I'm not a mod or an admin here, YOU STILL HAVE A PROBLEM! This admin will definitely block you if you don't put copyright notices on images or even making this argument a threat to you.

    • I looked at what happened over on the Rocko's Modern Life Wiki and from what I can tell, the complaint was the screenshots had graphics overlaid on them from the site where the episodes were viewed or from the smartphone interface, rather than being a pristine screenshot like what you can get from a DVD or iTunes and using a graphics program to crop any borders or the like. And about putting the pictures in a Gallery instead of displaying them individually.

Unless it's been deleted, there doesn't seem to have been any discussion about selecting the licensing or copyright status. I don't have the app for my phone, so I don't know if you get an option when uploading pictures to select the licensing. Otherwise, you use a computer, or on the phone you go way down to the bottom of the page, click on "View full site" and then you get to the standard upload screen, like this:

      RML Wiki upload screen

What I noticed is the drop-down menu for selecting the Licensing is almost completely hidden. The only thing that indicates it's something that can be adjusted is the triangle a couple of inches to the right. It's really easy to miss and if people aren't selecting any licensing when uploading picture, it wouldn't be their fault. Maybe if the transparency for the center section was turned down in the Theme Designer it might show up better or else someone will need to dig into how the wiki's appearance was set to find how to make it more noticeable.

As said above, any discussion about copyright and licensing either hasn't taken place, it was deleted or it's in a spot that isn't readily apparent. Because of that, the block looks a bit arbitrary.

On this wiki, the licensing drop-down menu should be easily visible so there shouldn't be any problem in selecting one of the choices. (With the same caveat as before that I don't know what the interface is like on the Fandom app.) If it came right down to it, I could probably use our bot account and have it run through adding a default licensing to show it's an episode screenshot. Might get some of them tagged wrong, but it would resolve the problem of pictures without any licensing.

I'm also on the Rocko's Modern Life wiki and I noticed how a lot of their episode images are low quality at the moment.

Thanks for helping Heyfunboy about the licensing.
