Taking into consideration that all Treehouse of Horror episodes are self-contained and usually take place in varying time periods and locations, information applying to specific segments and episodes will be separated here.

67 Million Years Ago[]

20th Century[]

  • October 31, 1990: Bart and Lisa tell scary stories to each other in the treehouse on the Halloween night.[1]
  • October 31, 1991: The Simpsons (except Marge) eat too much Halloween candy and start having nightmares. After all of that, Homer goes to work, where his brain is put into a robot by Mr. Burns to do his bidding, but fails, after which he puts the brain back into Homer. Being angry at his creation, Mr. Burns kicks the robot, which falls on him, forcing his head to be attached to Homer's body.[2]
  • October 31, 1992: The Simpsons host a Halloween party at their house, telling scary stories to the guests.[3]

1993:

  • Homer finds all of the donuts at work have been taken, signing a contract with the Devil that would give his soul to him if he eats it. The conflict would be resolved by revealing Homer pledged his soul to Marge, but he still has to have his head turn into a giant donut as punishment.[4]
  • Bart finds a gremlin at the side of the school bus and tries to warn everyone, though nobody believes him.[5]
  • Bart gets turned into a vampire by Mr. Burns, so the rest set out to kill him.[6]

October 7: "Cape Feare" takes place, though unlike the original episode, Sideshow Bob succeeds in killing Bart, traumatizing Lisa, who develops a split personality disorder and spends 30 years plotting revenge.[7]

1994:

  • The Simpsons are sent to work for Mr. Burns during winter, where they are cut off from television and have the beer supply taken away, turning Homer insane.[8][9]
  • Homer gets his hand jammed in the toaster, breaking it and deciding to rebuild it, accidentally turning it into a time machine that has him continuously change the past and ending up in various timelines.[10]
  • Bart has a dream about the school staff cannibalizing the students, waking up from it, but unfortunately falling victim to the fog that turns people inside out.[11]
  • December 13: The elementary school has a meeting about the accidental purchase of the misprinted calendars, during which Groundskeeper Willie gets burned to death while the rest don't bother helping him, vowing revenge.[12][13]

1995:

  • An unexplained phenomenon causes all the advertisement billboards and statues around town to come to life and start destroying the city, prompting the rest to find a method to stop them.[14]
  • Groundskeeper Willie, who got burned to death a year prior, starts haunting the students of the elementary school in their dreams, with their injuries and deaths happening in reality.[15]
  • Trying to hide from the visit of Patty and Selma, Homer finds a hidden wormhole in the wall, ending up in a strange three-dimensional world.[16]

1996:

  • Bart confronts his long-hidden seemingly evil conjoined twin, Hugo, who, after being separated from Bart, has been locked up in the attic since. However, after a visit from Dr. Hibbert, it turned out Bart wa the evil twin, so the family locked him up in the attic instead and let Hugo free.[17]
  • After Bart imbues Lisa with the static shock, she transfers it to the baby tooth she had recently lost, which would in turn evolve into a civilization of tiny people.[18]
  • November 5: During the US election, Kang and Kodos replace presidential candidates Bob Dole and Bill Clinton with the intent of conquering the world. After Homer exposes them, they argue that the country still has to vote for one of them, as Kang ends up winning and enslaves everyone.[19]

1997:

  • Springfield is hit with an atomic bomb, with the only survivors being the Simpsons and a small group of people who ended up mutating.[20]
  • After buying a teleportation device from Professor Frink, Bart get stuck in it along with a fly, causing the two to gain split parts of each other.[21]
  • Marge is unwillingly abducted by Kang and Kodos to participate in a breeding program, where she is promptly infused with Kang's genetic code, becoming pregnant with Maggie.[22]

  9. This segment contains a small anachronistic error. Despite the majority of the episode taking place in winter, the ending has Homer use his portable television to tune in to the Tony Awards ceremony. These usually take place in June, with 1994, the year the episode premiered, hosting it on June 12. The only year to host the ceremony somewhat close to winter time is 2021, where it had to be postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

  13. The misprinted "Smarch" calendar shows the 13th day of the "13th month" to be on a Friday (which, ironically, would be an unlucky day for Willie). However, considering only the month name got misprinted and not the general dates, the only years between the show's SDTV definition where December 13 is a Friday would be 1991, 1996 and 2002. For the ake of general clarity, it is to be assumed the date alignment has indeed been misprinted.
