Tom Brokaw is a famous journalist and the lead anchor for NBC News from 1982 to 2004. His idol is Lisa Simpson.
Biography[]
He first appeared reporting on NASA's experiments about the effects of weightlessness on tiny screws.[1] He gave a speech to veterans of World War II, including Grampa Simpson, and promised to give him a foot rub. He, with Dan Rather teased Kent Brockman at the Springfield Press Club.[2] He also regularly visits the Stagnant Springs Health Spa.[3] In the 2010 Winter Olympics, he announced that his idol is Lisa Simpson. He has her book, Unicorns and Me, and CD, and a large of poster with her autograph on.[4]
Behind the Laughter[]
The real Tom Brokaw didn't provide the voice of the character of the same name; Harry Shearer did. Brokaw was expected to voice himself in "Bart vs. Lisa vs. the Third Grade", but this didn't happen due to Brokaw's liking of Harry Shearer's impersonation of him.[5]
Originally Tom Brokaw was the newscaster on the TV at Moe's in "Lisa's Wedding" and Shearer had recorded the dialogue as Brokaw, but the completed animation came back from overseas with an unaged Kent Brockman so they just rerecorded it. The original recording was put in the deleted scenes feature for "The Complete Sixth Season" DVD.
