Censorship

• Channel 4 airings inexplicably showed a version of this episode where the credits on the TV were removed from the Munsters spoof opening.
• Homer mentioning "the testicle thing" while naming off the different disasters that didn't kill him in "G-G-Ghost D-D-Dad" was cut on Channel 4.
• The three bears eating Goldilocks alive off-screen (complete with her screaming for help and blood pooling underneath the door) in "Scary Tales Can Come True" was cut in Sky Showcase airings, but this was later reinstated.
• Homer not noticing that the Squeaky-Voiced Teen working the Krusty Burger drive-thru is being brutalized by a dolphin (and the dolphin using SVT's corpse to give Homer his order) in "Night of the Dolphin" was cut in Channel 4 airings. Surprisingly, the climactic fight between the people of Springfield and the dolphins wasn't censored, nor was the ending where humanity loses and everyone ends up living in the ocean, which includes a "The End?" made up of drowned corpses.
• Mayor Quimby's line, "People, people, we're all frightened and horny, but we can't let some killer dolphins keep us from living and scoring, " in "Night of the Dolphin" was edited in Channel 4 airings to shorten "frightened and horny" to "frightened" and "living and scoring" to "living".
• Homer mentioning the "glory hole" as one of mankind's greatest inventions in "Night of the Dolphin" was cut on Channel 4 airings.
• Over in America, some of the more violent scenes of Springfieldianites beating up the dolphins in "Night of the Dolphin" were cut before broadcast, but can be found on the season 12 DVD set in the deleted scenes reel. The scenes cut are:
  • Dr. Hibbert fighting back against the dolphins with hypodermic needles.
  • Moe shoving a gas pump nozzle into a dolphin's blowhole and causing it to explode.
  • Grampa Simpson bursting out of a dolphin.

Trivia

• The European/Castillan Spanish dub of this episode is the first one to have Carlos Ysbert as the voice of Homer, replacing Carlos Revilla, who died on September 27th, 2000.
