Cultural References[]
- Danger Things is a parody of the Netflix show Stranger Things.
- Also, the title of this segment is reference to Henry Danger episode with with same name.
- During the football game scene, an Ogdenvillian in a Minnesota Vikings jersey (from the episode "Coming to Homerica") can be seen in the crowd.
- When Hairy Met Slimy is a parody of The Shape of Water, and the title of the segment is based on the film, When Harry Met Sally.
- This episode is number 666 for the show, which stands for the "Number of the Beast". This episode was also planned for that since the show's first time ever entering production all the way back in 1989, in accordance to producer & now showrunner Al Jean.
- The opening sequence is parody of the supernatural horror movies The Omen and The Exorcist.
- The The Exorcist was previously parodied in the episode "Treehouse of Horror XXVIII".
- Before the number 666 appears, Maggie has the head paint of Mickey Mouse.

- Kodos stated that an alternative universe where the South won the American Civil War has "a lot less Confederate monuments." This would likely be accurate, with top Confederate military commander Robert E. Lee even noting in letters how he was opposed to such monuments. - Kodos is revealed to have "32 sexual identities", which also revealed that she has 32 different genders.
- The Danger Things segment was originally predicted by WatchMojo in Top 10 Stories The Simpsons Should Adapt for Treehouse of Horror. WatchMojo’s prediction had some differences:
- WatchMojo predicted that Kang or Kodos would portray the Demogorgon. In the actual segment,
- WatchMojo predicted that would portray Will Byers. In the actual segment, Mulhouse portrayed Will Byers.
- The mark of the beast on Maggie's head is shown to be " Episode 666 or 667 if Fox changes the schedule", which references the fact that FOX tends to change the air schedule of their show constantly, especially due to the network's World Series broadcasts, which follow a maximum seven game schedule, airing around the time of the Treehouse of Horror episodes.
- During the ending credits, clips from the previous Treehouse of Horror episodes are shown. Afterwards photo pattern from each of the 600 episodes of show are shown, with text "Episode 666" super-impressed being shown.
- The Gracie Films logo did not have the usual scream, instead it was replaced by Bart Simpson screaming from Treehouse of Horror II.
- Bart, Lisa and Maggie do not appear in the When Hairy Met Slimy segment.
