  • The opening of this episode has made a reference from Disney's movie Bambi.
  • This is the first Treehouse of Horror since Season 23's "Treehouse of Horror XXII" to have the third episode of a season be the Treehouse of Horror episode, and the third time overall. The first was Season 2's first ever "Treehouse of Horror" episode.
  • Kang breaks the fourth wall in this episode, stating "Hasn't there been enough death in this episode?".
  • The song playing during the title card and TV's opening credits is "I'm Shipping Up To Boston" by Dropkick Murphys.
    • Coincidentally, this is the second time the song has been used in the series, the first time being used in the Season 19 episode "The Debarted". (Or third, if including the a capella cover in the Season 28 episode "The Town").
  • This is the first time since the Season 13 episode "The Bart Wants What it Wants" that Greta Wolfcastle has a speaking role. However, she is voiced this time by Tress MacNeille.
  • This is the only Itchy & Scratchy cartoon to feature the word "D'oh" in the title.
  • Mr. Sparkle from "In Marge We Trust" re-appears.
