Trivia[]
- This is the second TOH episode not to have a full opening sequence after XXXIII. It is also the second TOH episode to have each segment's title first appear a quarter of the way through the segment after the same episode.
- "Ei8ht" briefly returned to the traditional cel animation method to recreate the events of "Cape Feare". This marks the first time cel animation was used since "Helter Shelter" from Season 14, which was officially the last episode to use this animation method.
- In Wild Barts Can't Be Token, the way Homer screams "No!" & "Yes!" in the same tone is similar to "Homer and Lisa Exchange Cross Words" when he screams "No!" after Lisa takes Marge's maiden name, then screams "Yes!" when Janey sells Ban Candy.
- This is the first Treehouse of Horror to get a "Viewer Discretion Is Advised" warning, because of all the blood in the episode.
- Homer is shown to overtly enjoy football and wrestling. Ironically, this was just three days before All Elite Wrestling (AEW) television made its debut in Simpsons creator Matt Groening's hometown of Portland, Oregon. https://www.oregonlive.com/events/2023/11/aew-dynamite-wrestling-show-hits-portland-on-nov-8-and-tickets-are-cheaper-than-you-might-think.html
- The October 7, 1993 date in the Ei8ht segment is a callback to the original airdate of the Season 5 episode 2 "Cape Feare".
- In the original episode, at the end Sideshow Bob doesn't kill Bart. He gets arrested by the Springfield police after the boat hits with a rock when he was going to kill Bart. However, in this segment, it shows an alternate version of "Cape Feare", where Sideshow Bob finally kills Bart successfully. This makes it the second Treehouse of Horror segment where Sideshow Bob successfully killed Bart, the first was the "Treehouse of Horror XXVI" segment "Wanted: Dead and Alive".
- Obviously, the aforementioned episode was banned in Germany until 1999, but this was due to the announcer of McBain's program wearing a Schutzstaffel officer uniform.
- In Ei8ht, Sideshow Bob mentions Lisa having split personalities from Multiplisa-Ty of Treehouse of Horror XXIX.
- This marks the first time Matt Groening's scary name is completely different compared to the others he's previously had, in this case, "Splat Groening", which is a brand-new scary name after "Bat Groening".
- The last time Matt Groening had a brand-new scary name was during the opening of "Treehouse of Horror XI", where his scary name was "Bat Groin Injury" at the time.
- It's vaguely Implied that Millhouse may have also died somehow, has when Nelson shows Lisa a picture of her as a child with Bart, Nelson and Milhouse who is oddly absent as an adult in the present day, Lisa also says, "Some of us stayed young forever" not "One of us", implying Bart wasn't the only one to die young.
- The events leading from Bart's death and the subsequent deaths of his parents can be attributed to several episodes of Season 5 released shortly after "Cape Feare", Marge's death "From Sorrow" could mean many things it is worth noting the first Marge Centric episode after Cape Feare" was Marge on the Lam in which she was already feeling depressed almost as if the addition of the loss of her son made her even more wreckless and got herself killed during her time with Ruth, then there is The Last Temptation of Homer if Homer became a widower before this episode in this alternate timeline he would feel no embarrassment in his feelings for Mindy (he openly Encouraged Ned to start dating when Maude was killed, meaning it's something that he wouldn't be above doing himself) and during that episode he Dream what It would be like If Mindy was his wife and he imagines them playing Tennis, and he is said to have "Choked on a Tennis Ball" this may also mean that Frank Grimes, Red Barclay, Maude Flanders are still alive in this continuity, also Lisa may have gone through with marrying Hugh Parkfield as Homer wasn't alive to (albeit unintentionally) mess things up.
